About some people that makes them think they can run your life - or force you to do, or not do anything - by threatening you?
When I was very young and got into trouble, I was threatened with having my priveleges taken away. I never really knew what priveleges we were talking about - television? Didn't watch it. Going outside? I'd rather read a book. My thought, even in elementary school, was always that they couldn't eat me, and if they killed me, they would go to jail forever. Problem solved.
I guess my point is that when I find myself in a position of being threatened, I generally tend to ignore the threat and do whatever I had planned to do in the first place. The funny thing is that all it usually takes is for someone to say, "I would prefer that you didn't do this.."
Even if we were mortal enemies, I would generally acquiesce if it was a reasonable request. But jeez.. ya start threatening me, and all bets are off. ;)

When Isabella was very little it quickly became apparent that she was very very strong willed. I read this book called, "You can't make me, but I can be persuaded" and it sounds exactly like what you are saying. If you give me an ultimatum I will win, but if we talk reasonably it might work out for you.
