Pieces of Me You've Never Seen

I think everyone needs a reminder,
sometimes,
of who they are,
and who they used to be,
and where the connection is in between.

I got just that this morning,
and it kicked me in the head.
Hard.
Ow.
But it was good.

Those reminders can come out of nowhere..
one minute, you're living your life
and the next minute, you're remembering
a life that isn't there anymore,
whether it's yours or someone else's.

This song reminds me
of the absolute darkest time of my entire life,
and it's for anyone who has ever experienced loss,
heartache,
and rejection.

I guess there are pieces of all of us that will never be seen.
