Marvelous Night for a Moondance

Last night was the absolute most amazing night I can ever remember having. Mike was at a meeting until 10:30, and Zion was restless. When the rain came at 9:30, we went outside to watch.

Mike has horrific allergies, so we don't get to play in the rain much. He's really over-protective of Zion about stuff like that, but with no Daddy around, we played. I don't think Zion's ever actually seen rain like that. It poured and poured. The lightning flashed and the thunder crashed, and at first, he was scared and he put his arms around my neck and laid his head on my shoulder.

After a few minutes of it, though, he thought it was fun. When the thunder crashed, he said, "Wheee!" and giggled. He got up enough nerve to sit on the chair beside me, and we watched as the rain came down. When it slowed, my beautiful, free-spirited son danced on the sidewalk under the streetlight with me. We splashed in the puddles together, and I watched his upturned face as the rain drops hit his cheeks, and it was the most beautiful, innocent, amazing moment of my entire life.
