It's That Time of the Year!

So, I love these things. I love getting them, I love participating in them; but I'm always afraid that if I forward them, everyone on my email list will go, "Why does she think I give a crap?" This one came from Miss Vera.

So, beloved blog readers, I'm posting my answers here for all the world to see. If you're not interested, don't read past here. ;)

"Welcome to the 2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!
You know the drill. Don't be a scrooge!!!"

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? EGG NOG, hands down. I had one of the Starbucks egg nog lattes the other day.. highly recommended. Mike said it reaffirmed my "whiteness."

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? wraps them.. love the look of the wrapping paper under the tree. It's my fave.

3. Do you hang mistletoe? Not yet, but now I'm gonna hafta.

5. When do you put your decorations up? when I have five minutes to spare.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Gravy, and I know that sounds really weird, but we have my great-grandma's giblet gravy recipe and I swear, I could put it on everything (I don't even like gravy most of the time). This stuff is totally yummy.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: My grandpa has the CHEESIEST Dixieland Christmas cassette tape. It's all this New Orleans jazzy-type Christmas music, and it's awesome.. we used to listen to it every year as we decorated the tree and drank egg nog.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I snuck into the basement and found all of my "from Santa" presents one year. I was probably 8.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? yup - just one. It's like our teaser.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? we have purple and silver decorations.. that may change this year.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it, but only if I get to stay in and watch.

12. Can you ice skate? Used to, but it's been YEARS.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift from last year? I don't..

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? I could go on and on about this.. I honestly believe that the holidays are the one BIG time of the year when you're just absolutely supposed to be with your family, creating memories, making sure they know how much you love them.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Anything with pumpkin in the title.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? We have plastic fruits that my great-grandmother bought when she first got married (during the Depression). The fruits are the last thing to go on the tree, and they go around the very top, just under the angel. Love those fruits.

17. What tops your tree? An African Angel.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving, definitely. I spend months agonizing over the perfect gift for everyone. It's ridiculous.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Carol of the Bells - there is something so completely magical about that song. DING, DONG, DING, DONG.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Hmm.. not a big fan.
