Let's Just Go There, Shall We?

Because really, we've addressed this before, here on Sara's blog. It's the subject of the amount of time Sara dedicates to this silly little hobby vs. the amount of time Sara dedicates to her much-loved family.

Recently, a very "famous" scrapbooker went through a divorce. This scrapbooker and I are very, very close in age, and she talked about her marriage and her husband frequently on her blog. They had no children, so he was also the subject of MANY a scrapbooking layout. It was pretty much the most adorable thing ever, and as recognizable men in the scrapbooking world go, he was pretty high on the list.

When said scrapbooker began her divorce proceedings, much speculation went around on blogs, message boards, emails, and instant messages. One less-than-sensitive person even posted a link to the court documents in a public forum.

I felt very badly for her - I really wanted to give her a big hug and tell her everything was going to be ok, that she was still young, she'd bounce back - but really, part of me was terrified. The gossip questioned whether her husband was upset that he had been made a public spectacle via her "hobby."

People also wondered if she just hadn't made her marriage enough of a priority. Through the traveling and the book deals and the magazine articles and the design teams and the CREATING, had she made enough time for her husband?

This whole thing was (and is) so familiar to me. So, so familiar. My husband and I have had this talk so many times - my breaking point was the day that he said to me, "I just don't want to wake up one morning and realize that I don't know you anymore."

Today I have one goal. No more. My goal is to make a book about my husband. Not Zion. Not our house. Not our marriage. Not us together.

Just him.

I'm serious about this goal. It's gonna happen. Just wait.

Great idea Sara! I want to see the book, or at least the parts you are willing to share!

Yeah, when I first started hearing about all this stuff going on with *her* I just felt terrible. I always hate hearing about divorce, and coming from a huge family full of divorce it isn't suprising. But *her* news really really suprised me!

But your idea is brilliant! I really love it. I may just have to steal it... ;).

How hard it is to go through a divorce, but to have to go through it publicly in this business.

I'm sure Mike will love the book. Can't wait to see pictures at least as it progresses!
