Bad Day Gone Good.

It doesn't happen often, but it did today. Did everyone have a good 4th of July? I hate this entire holiday. I recognize that we have to celebrate our nation's independence, and if the celebrating was really ABOUT our nation's independence, I could see celebrating it, but this day is everything that I hate. I hate the summer. I hate the heat. I hate fireworks. Hate them. I was really hoping that we might have a couple of years before Zion's fascination with them set in (cause let's face it - he's a boy, right?), but no such luck.

Mike was like a little kid. He brought home a big box of them, and Zion's whole face lit up. I was an emotional wreck. We were outside, I had the camera, Mike was opening things, and Mike said, "Honey, will you go in and turn off the television?"

"Sure," I said, "just keep a eye on Zion."

I came back outside not even 30 seconds later, and Zion had something in his hand.

"What is this?!?" I demanded.

Mike didn't know. Some sort of fuse he had picked up off the sidewalk.

WHAT PART OF "JUST KEEP AN EYE ON ZION" WAS UNCLEAR TO YOU?!?

I am positive that last night knocked several years off of my life.

Zion had a blast. We have videos and pictures coming out of our ears. At least I have some cool stuff to scrapbook, early death or not.

Then I played around without the flash for a bit.. got some really cool pics of the FIRE, but not so much of Zion.

So hey, if you need pictures of fire, I'm your man. Just doesn't ask me to take pics of your kid.

I think the pics of the fire with Zion in the background are great! It captures the essence of the night. I hate fireworks and kids, we got a little taste of it this 4th too. Explosives, open flame and children just don't seem like a good mix to me, call me crazy...

The bigger the boys (insert word Husband here if necessary) the more expensive, (and more explosive) the toys. :)

Great shots of the sparklers.
