Karma's a Bitch.

When we were in St. Louis this weekend, Chris, who is one of the owners of Red Lead Paperworks, said something very powerful to me. She said, "You have to ignore the bullshit people throw at you and remember that this is just a business."

I admire this woman, for what she's accomplished and for what she's about to do. Even though she's doing this on a level that's a million times higher (and more honorable) than what I am, I can relate to her position.

Sometimes, your skin just isn't thick enough.

Sometimes, you just don't have it in you anymore to take the bullshit.

Sometimes, you just get tired.

Sometimes, it's time to hang up the towel and go home.

I hope that, like me, Ms. Sheehan has people around her to remind her that what she's doing is right, and good, and pure. I hope she finds peace in her journey.

I hope that she stops blaming herself for her son's death.

And before I get slammed for saying this, let me remind anyone reading my blog that I don't go here often...

But what I really hope, beyond all hope, is that the people responsible for this war are held accountable for their actions when they reach their final destination.

No. I don't simply mean the murder of thousands of Iraqi civilians. I mean the millions and millions of people whose lives have been ruined as a result of this war. The parents and grandparents of soldiers who will never come home. Women, like Ms. Sheehan, who have lost all confidence in their abilities to effectively raise their remaining children.

I hope that these people find some comfort knowing that they'll have to pay for their actions at some point. Karma's a bitch.
