Alright. I try to keep things positive on here. There's no sense in spreading even more negativity around the internet, right? But the fact of the matter is, I'm in a dark mood right now. Really, in general, the past few weeks have been pretty dark for me, and I just can't figure out why. Because of said dark mood, I have some things I need to get off of my chest.
1. What the hell happened to professional integrity? Seriously, people. If you own a business, there are three things that you need to worry about. a.) customer service b.) putting product on your shelves and c.) paying your taxes. That's all. It's not your job to put your competition out of business - it's your job to be BETTER than your competition. Trashing your competition to your customers is just crappy and wrong, and I'm tired of hearing it from business owners. The only reason you're bitching about this other person is because they're doing well. So there's your challenge - do better.
2. If you own a CRAFT AND/OR HOBBY STORE - as in, "I have nothing better to do, so I spend my money on useless crap to keep me entertained in your store" - chances are, your customers will have children or grandchildren. WHETHER YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR NOT, you will generally have to deal with other peoples' children. It's the nature of owning a business - ESPECIALLY A CRAFT AND HOBBY BUSINESS. When you're a bitch to someone's kid, they're going to stop frequenting your store. Is said child tearing product off of your shelves? Is said child running other customers out of your store? It's funny, because crafters and/or hobbiests (is that even a word?) are GOSSIPS and they're all about the drama. They also stick together.
3. I'm tired of grown-assed women acting like 3-year-olds. Women are the most fabulous creatures - we cry, we scream, we bleed, and then we pick up the pieces - ours and everyone else's - and move on. Why do we bicker with each other? We should be banding together and tackling our problems as a unit. Mike watches that show, "The Unit," all the time, and I can't bring myself to watch it with him, but every once in awhile I catch something. These men are special ops guys, and they can't ever tell their wives what they do. They fly to Afghanistan in the morning, kidnap a known terrorist, save countless lives, fly back the next day and have dinner waiting when they get there. Just another day at the office, right? The thing that gets me about this show is that these wives know their men are in danger. They can't ask questions, but they totally know. The only people they have to support them are the other wives on the base. They do bake sales, they have affairs, they break the law, but they're always THERE for each other. Hello great example.
