Ok. Yes, I wore flannel shirts and had a wallet with a chain attached to my belt loop. My favorite pair of pants were men's brown corduroys, and they had a 40" waist (I, on the other hand, had a 24" waist). I loved Nirvana, dreamed unmnetionable dreams about Eddie Vedder, and dyed my hair blue with Manic Panic hair dye. I was never so cool as when I was hanging out with my similarly-dressed friends at G-Coffee or the 51st Street Coffeehouse. Our anthem was Radiohead's "Creep", but nothing topped "Killing in the Name." Rage Against the Machine could do some mean stuff with a guitar - I still can't sit still when I hear it. God help the people on the road if it comes on the radio.
I crowd surfed, and I was beat up in my own fair share of mosh pits. I wore Doc Martens, Airwalks and Chuck Taylors (but we called them all-stars), and I had the same "anti-hairstyle" that I still have. I never wore a t-shirt without wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath it, and yes, I stole a pair of bowling shoes BEFORE they sold them in stores.
I shopped at (and continue to shop at) It's a Beautiful Day in Westport and we had milkshakes at Otto's. It's gone now. I loved, I loved, I loved ALL of the Kevin Smith movies. I saw "Chasing Amy" at the Ward Parkway Theater 5 times. It is, to this day, the most romantic and tragic movie I've ever seen in my life.
I was a total product of the 90's, and I just wanted to say for the record that I miss it. I love being a mom, and I love being a housewive, but I guess you just never get over high school, right? I'm going to be 27 next week. I'm feeling it.

You young thing....I dried my hair with hair spray and a hair dryer. I listened to Van Halen, Poison, and Bon Jovi. Wore lace, cut up bleached jeans, dago colored clothing, and if the earrings were as big as my head I would wear them. A product of the 80's and like you....still LOVE them.
Angela
wow, reading though both of your lists makes me wonder what I am a product of. I will be 27 this year too, so I guess I should be a 90's girl like you Sara, but I was not.
I think that when it comes right down to it, I am a product of my family. I love the beatles and motown, I would rather listen to an oldies station than 80's or 90's music. I dressed in whatever I wanted to, my hair changed whenever I wanted it to, I guess I didn't really have a specific "look".
I'm not particularly conected to any era (60's and 70's in my heart) I have often been called a hippie.
Yeah, I'd have to say that my family defined who I was more than anything else.
