Ok.. sitting here with all these thoughts flying around and you know how I am about organizing them via my blog, so feel free to skip this post - or, you know, read it. Whatever tickles your fancy. ;)
~ I paid for Mike's and Zion's Christmas presents today (yes, they got them way before now, but I didn't have to pay for them until today). $550. Mike got a new recorder, condenser microphone, two monitors, an electric guitar and a drum machine. For those of you (like me) who have no idea what I just said, it basically means that I will never see my husband again. He now has a full-blown music recording studio in our basement.
~ Zion, if you don't remember, has a drum set. This was his big Christmas present from us. He LOVES this drumset. Mike keeps trying to get him to learn beats so he can jam with him while Mike plays the guitar. Zion mostly just likes to beat on things. Cats, Elmo, the coffee table (can't blame him there.. that thing beats the crap out of him at every turn). It's very cute to see my boys "playing" music together, though - especially since music is the reason Mike and I met in the first place.
He's happier. It's been a long time since I've seen Mike relaxed, and just in the last two weeks it's very evident. He needed a creative outlet. He hasn't written music since Zion was born - too busy working and being a dad and, though I hate to admit it, picking up my slack since scrapbooking took over my life. It was time for him to do some "Mike" stuff. So, our house is very noisy and very happy right now, and I'm grateful for it.
~ Noisy and happy and MESSY. I thought I had things firmly in hand there for awhile, but I was down all last week. When "mom" spends the week between Christmas and New Year's sick in bed, there's no recovering from that. I just want to get a bulldozer and start over. I can't seem to get a grip on the mess.. Christmas presents have yet to be put away, and I don't even wanna talk about the decorations.
~ My gardening catalogs are starting to come in. I downloaded some neat garden plans that I'd like to use, but between trying to get the house together and the $550 worth of music equipment, I have my doubts.
~ I wandered into Stampers Ink for a few minutes today, and Tanya tried to talk me into coming to the Altered Book Club on Saturday. It's something I've wanted to do since I found out about it, but I'm trying to decide just how overrated sleep is - that's pretty much the choice I have to make this weekend. Altered Book Club or sleep?
~ That Tanya is a heck of a saleswoman. I vowed when I went in there that I wouldn't buy anything, but she had the new Altered Arts magazine. "I'll get it when I'm in Tuesday for the Quick Cards class," I thought. Just as that thought ran through my head, she said, "I won't have any more left after the Altered Book Club comes through on Saturday." Sigh. There went another $6.
~ This entire post has been one big procrastination tool. I have to finish this Winter Wonderland book by 7am. It's now 1:45am. I'm sick of this book. I should go finish it though.
